Dr Alvin CHANG Shang Ming

Dr Alvin Chang is a Senior Consultant at the Department of Neonatology, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. His areas of interests include neonatal ventilation, prevention of chronic lung disease of infancy, neonatal transport, healthcare quality and patient safety activities. Dr Chang leads the Quality Assurance activities and is a Patient Safety Lead of the Neonatal department. He co-chairs the KKH Joint Commission International (JCI) Core champions committee, which led to KKH’s attainment of reaccreditation in 2017. He co-chairs the KKH Medical Record review committee and is a member of the KKH Patient Safety Council and a Patient Safety Champion. Dr Chang conducts regular in-house Root Cause Analysis (RCA) workshops and Speak up for safety seminars.
He teaches skills in evidence-based medicine and neonatal resuscitation regularly to the residents. He was the President of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia in 2010/2011 and held various posts in the executive council of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia in the past. Currently he is the secretary of the Singapore Paediatric Society and the Healthcare Quality Society of Singapore. He has published a Cochrane review on neonatal transport and other scientific papers in various peer-reviewed journals locally and internationally on a range of neonatal-related topics.
