I think the Congress is very important for both clinicians and people who are interested in research and improvement. The topics are really very relevant and it brings academia together with the clinicians so that we can listen to each other and look at what are the areas we can collaborate and improve on.

Psychosocial Guidelines in Diabetes Care: What and How?

 Track type: Plenary

Date: 21 Sep 2018

 Time: 1655 - 1740

Location: Academia, Level 2, L2-S3 & L2-S4

National and International guidelines are increasingly incorporated in the psychosocial aspects of diabetes care. In increasingly costs constrained healthcare systems, adding more things to the portfolio of services is often problematic and the limited resources is often used as a reason for their non-implementation. This session will review the evidence for the core psychosocial guidelines, and using cost-effectiveness analysis, will provide a framework (SHADE) for prioritising which aspects of these guidelines to implement. Thereafter the session will review how digital technologies can help with guideline implementation at relatively low cost, and realise significant individual and population health benefit.
