Dr Wong is a Senior Consultant at the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Deputy Executive Director of the new National Geriatric Education and Research Institute. Dr Wong also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at National University of Singapore and Duke-NUS Medical School. 
 
In 2005, Dr Wong completed his research fellowship in Frailty at McGill University in Montreal, Canada under the National Medical Research Fellowship and in 2009 he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco, United States of America.

Dr Wong was in an International Working Group in Frailty and Aging funded by the Canadian Initiative on Health Research and Federal Research for Health Quebec. In 2005, he finished a study in collaboration with the Solidage Research Group in Montreal, Canada, on Frailty and its association with Disability and Comorbidity in Montreal. Dr Wong completed a Master's in Public Health in Health Systems and Policy at Johns Hopkins and has consulted at the World Health Organization, producing two technical papers on performance-based incentives and long term care financing. His interests include health services research, programme evaluation and evidence-based policy making in meeting the healthcare needs of ageing populations on both national and global platforms. Other interests include physical activity and chronic disease in older adults, and medical education.
