Dr Sukumaran’s research work has been published in several internationally recognised journals. After completing her doctoral training at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, she pursued post-doctoral training at the Yale University School of Medicine, United States of America, focusing on bacterial pathogenesis.
In 2010, she joined Duke-NUS Medical School. Dr Sukumaran’s research currently focuses on discovering the cell biological and immunological mechanisms underlying mucosal bacterial pathogenesis using both in-vitro and in-vivo mouse model systems and using human patient samples. Her research group works on gram-negative bacterial pathogens such as Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae and uropathogenic E. coli. |
