In this day and age, care of patients involved many disciplines and many health professionals. So it is important for health professionals to come together to learn about diseases and how we manage these diseases together, rather than learn in their own professional silos.

Paediatrics Plenary
Bridging the Distance between Research and Care in Paediatrics

 Track type: Plenary

 Duration: 45 minutes

 Location: Academia, Level 2, PSL2

 Speaker: Prof Salvatore Albani

We will discuss general and Paediatrics-specific hurdles which hinder the development of therapies which are specifically targeted to certain subset of patients (precision medicine). The development of precision medicine is particularly difficult for children, but this is not an insurmountable problem. These issues will be discussed in the context of Asia-wide initiatives, which are being spearheaded by KK Women's and Children's Hospital and Duke-NUS Medical School.
