This is a rare opportunity, where in the same room, you might have busy clinicians and academic leaders. You actually start to understand how this all works together - and that's where you get the excitement, where there's understanding that bringing academic medicine to a busy clinical setting ultimately really distinguishes the healthcare delivery.

Singapore’s strategy to keep local healthcare both good and affordable can be encapsulated in the “3 Beyonds” – Healthcare to Health, Hospital to Community and Quality to Value. Team-based Interprofessional care (IPC) supports the delivery of quality healthcare and Interprofessional Education (IPE) aims to educate healthcare professionals to be better collaborators as they deliver patient care.
However, the implementation of IPC may not be well-organised and resources may not have been as wisely used such that the delivery of healthcare is effective yet affordable. The use of systems, organisational and implementation theoretical frameworks would be valuable to guide the planning of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP).
The speakers will explore IPECP through the Bronfenbrenner Ecological Systems Theory lens, providing the Macrosystem, Exosystem and Mesosystem views of how IPECP may be implemented in our healthcare system to optimise Health and Value to our patients within the community. There will also be a review of the frameworks (e.g. Interprofessional Education for Collaborative Patient-centred Practice), strategies and measures that have been used in the Canadian healthcare system to operationalise IPECP. The speakers will discuss ways on how these could be applied to some of the practices in Singapore's healthcare system.
