"The presence of approachable and supportive consultants, and my fellow Residents with whom I share many joys and struggles, have made SingHealth Pathology a convivial and collaborative workplace that I'm grateful to be a part of."

My learning experience at SingHealth Residency has been immersive. As a pathology Resident, I get the opportunity to report my own cases, in conjunction with and under the guidance of a consultant. It gives me a sense of ownership over the case and encourages me to reach the level of competency expected of a consultant, by discussing and working up a case from start to finish with them.

My experience has also allowed for me to strengthen my areas of weaknesses. Whether it is through didactic lecture, slide-based tutorials, or day-to-day experience with signing out cases, I discover my areas of deficiency and am presented with opportunities to work on them.

It was the broad spectrum of subspecialties covered by experts and dedicated Faculty, who each have a niche interest that led me to join the Pathology Programme at SingHealth Residency. Also, our training sites, SGH and KKH are major surgical and medical centres that will provide a varied and challenging case-mix which allow me to further hone my skills. Lastly, the curriculum comprises a structured programme with special postings and opportunities rotate to CGH and NSC.

The study of pathology is ever growing, as increasing emphasis is placed on using molecular tools to not only diagnose, but also provide predictive indicators for prognosis and treatment response. Opportunities in pathology, be it career or research, will continue to abound in the future.

The presence of approachable and supportive consultants, and my fellow Residents with whom I share many joys and struggles, have made SingHealth Pathology a convivial and collaborative workplace that I'm grateful to be a part of.

"Faculty and consultants are very friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, as well as dedicated to teaching. The Residents are treated like they are part of a family which makes the learning environment supportive and enjoyable."

My training with SingHealth Residency so far has been a great experience. The programme provides a structured and comprehensive training that keeps us Residents well-rounded. Being in this programme, I am exposed to a large number of cases and a variety of specimens which is a perk of training at the largest public healthcare group in Singapore. This is important to broaden my experience in handling a wide spectrum of cases. On top of that, Faculty and consultants are very friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, as well as dedicated to teaching. The Residents are treated like they are part of a family which makes the learning environment supportive and enjoyable. This is undoubtedly one of the main reasons I chose to do my training with SingHealth. I have a strong interest in surgical pathology after I was introduced to the art of microscopy during my medical officer rotation in the department. For me, there is nothing more exciting than to be able to look at the disease itself under a microscope and provide a diagnosis which will guide the clinical management of the patient.

"I would absolutely recommend SingHealth Pathology Residency as a robust and holistic training programme to anyone seeking a gratifying career."

My journey with SingHealth Residency has been fulfilling and rewarding thus far. The guidance provided by the dedicated Faculty members creates a nurturing and effective learning environment.

As a Resident in anatomical pathology, having a comprehensive case-mix is crucial in becoming a competent all-rounded specialist. Thus, I chose to work in the largest and leading healthcare cluster in Singapore, as it offers the complete range of specialties, a high case volume, and a myriad of cases including rare and complex entities.

I love pathology for its scientific rigour in defining medical conditions and also the intellectual vigour required in its daily practice. I would absolutely recommend SingHealth Pathology Residency as a robust and holistic training programme to anyone seeking a gratifying career.
