Hear From Our Residents

Dr Wong Jia Min
Paediatrics Resident, Year 2021

"A six-year training programme may have its challenges but a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor, and the Paediatrics Residency Programme is a pretty sturdy ship to be on."

The Paediatrics Residency Programme has a curriculum well-designed for our training. More importantly, it is a programme that is filled with dedicated and passionate Faculty, inspiring seniors and like-minded peers. We are enabled to contribute through open channels of feedback, thereby fostering a strong sense of community in the workplace.

The structure of teaching, the devotion of the mentors, the collegiality of my peers and the smiles of the kids has made my training in the SingHealth Paediatrics Residency meaningful. My Paediatrics Residency has inspired me to use my research background to ask and investigate clinical questions that have the potential to impact the future of children’s health.

"The Programme has certainly equipped me to be a better communicator to overcome such challenges, not forgetting having dedicated Faculty members who never hesitate to give advice during times of difficulties."

A huge part of paediatrics is to manage parents’ expectations and that can be challenging at times. The Programme has certainly equipped me to be a better communicator to overcome such challenges, not forgetting having dedicated Faculty members who never hesitate to give advice during times of difficulty. My experience in SingHealth has been very fulfilling so far, not just in terms of learning but also the friendships that I have forged with my Residency mates.

Dr Teoh Kok Wooi
Paediatrics Resident, Year 2022
International Medical University (IMU) Malaysia

"The SingHealth Paediatric Residency programme is a well-structured training programme that offers extensive academic and clinical exposure. Being the largest children hospital in Singapore, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital has broadened my exposure to various medical conditions for children significantly. Continuous application of medical knowledge in our day to day work has been a very effective way to build my clinical acumen.  "

In addition, colleagues of various levels ranging from fellow residents to senior consultants genuinely take interest in my learning. This has hence created a conducive learning environment for my journey to be a Pediatrician.

Dr Duan Menghao
Paediatrics Resident, Year 2022
NUS YLL SoM Alumnus

I have been a part of the SingHealth Paediatric Medicine Residency Programme for close to a year now. With a holistic and all-rounded curriculum, residents are given abundant learning opportunities and space for growth. It's been a refreshing experience to have the independence to care for my patients while always feeling supported by the faculty, who goes beyond and above to nurture. There is a strong sense of camaraderie among my peers and I'm happy to be journeying with like-minded people. Overall, the programme provides a strong foundation in clinical work, research and education for all aspiring Paediatricians.
