WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services) Assessment Only Pathway

The course equips the participants to enhance proficiency and competency of knowledge & skills to deliver basic nursing and emergency care to patients in a pre-hospital setting.

A comprehensive scenario-based assessment that will assess the participants’ knowledge and skills competency in managing patient in pre-hospital setting.

The modules that will be assessed are as follows:

- Perform general cleaning activities

- Lifting, transferring and positioning of patients

- Measure and record patient's vital signs

- Assist patients in care of airway

- Demonstrate understanding of the responsibilities of an emergency medical technician

- Perform emergency care

Perform emergency medical technician role in ambulance calls


Able to apply the knowledge and skills required to make critical decisions that will save and sustain a patient’s life.

Entry Requirement 

  • Local work experience accumulated over the past 5 years
  • Min. 1 year experience in healthcare industry 
  • Min. 100 hours of patient care in land ambulance/Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT)
  • Valid First-Aid, BCLS & AED certification (SRFAC-accredited)
