Gerontology Nursing Course

This programme aims to provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills in nursing management of elderly patients with multiple co-morbidities and also empower nurses to participate actively in discharge planning of elderly patients.
At this course, participants will learn to:
Understand the impact of age related physical and physiologic changes to pathology
Discuss the management of incontinence and constipation
Explain the management of patient with dementia
Explain the management of patient with delirium
Explain the management of patient with depression
Discuss the role of nurses in fall prevention
Discuss the assessment of pain in elderly with cognitive disorders
Explain the importance of adequate nutrition and hydration in elderly
Discuss the available community services for elderly
Explain the importance of early discharge planning
