Clinical Preceptorship Course
This programme aims to develop and prepare the advanced beginner nurses for the role of preceptor to junior nurses. It is hoped that the values, skills and knowledge taught will be able to help them in their new role in preceptorship and able to provide effective guidance and supervision to junior nurses.
At this course, participants will learn to:
State concept of preceptorship
Describe roles and responsibilities of a preceptor
State the principles of effective communication in preceptorship
Outline importance of concept of change agent in preceptorship
State the application of preceptorship model in clinical practice
State role of a clinical educator in providing teaching, learning and supervising
Demonstrate ability in initiation of Learning Contract
Demonstrate ability to constructively evaluate a preceptee’s learning performance
State potential problems faced in preceptorship
Target Audience
Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of current practice in the clinical area and have not attended Clinical Teaching Course for Nurses
Enrolled Nurses with at least 2 years of current practice in the clinical area and have not attended Senior Enrolled Nurse Developmental Programme or Enrolled Nurse Cardiac Nursing Course
