Intermediate Wound Management Course

This course aims to provide the nurses with the knowledge and skills to support intermediate wound care that improves patients’ outcomes. It intends to benefit Registered Nurses with case examples in complex wound management such as atypical leg ulcers, burns, fungating wounds, adjuvant therapies and incontinence associated dermatitis and challenging stomas.


At this course, participants will learn to:

  • Differentiate common and atypical leg ulcers

  • Identify advanced and adjuvant wound therapies

  • Understand an overview of burns wound management

  • Describe the prevention, classification and management of incontinence associated dermatitis

  • Explain management of fungating breast lesion

  • Compare stoma appliances and insider tips relating to their usage in stoma care

  • Understand nursing responsibilities when managing patients on negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), compression therapy and maggot therapy
