End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (SGH) 


This course aims to equip participants with the basic knowledge and skills on the philosophy and practice of palliative care.
        
This course is organised by SingHealth Alice Lee Institute of Advanced Nursing.  

Course Outline: 

  • Discuss the concept and goals of palliative care, hospital and palliative care services in Singapore. 
  • Discuss the management of pain.
  • Explain the management of common distressing symptoms in terminal illness.
  • Discuss health care professional's loss experiences in palliative care.
  • Discuss the management of grief, loss and bereavement of patients and families as well as the loss experiences of health care professionals.
  • Explain ethical end of life issues with respect to Do Not Resuscitate Orders and Hydration and Nutrition at the end of life.
  • Discuss cultural and spiritual issues in palliative care.
  • Discuss psychosocial and communication issues.

Target Audience: 

Registered Nurses (minimal of 1 year working experience)

Run 1: 3 - 4 July 2019 (Wednesday - Thursday)
Run 2: 4 - 5 December 2019 (Wednesday - Thursday)

Singapore General Hospital (SGH)

Time: 

8.00am - 4.30pm (14 hours)

Course Fee:

SG/SPR: $43.31(with GST)^
Foreigner: $126.90 (with GST)
