Cardiac Nursing & Patient Education

This course aims to provide opportunity for participants to adopt a problem-based and evidence-based approach to clinical patient care adn patient education, develop the necessary knowledge, expertise, and practical skills to plan and coordinate complex patient care demands in the cardiac nursing setting whilst also developing a broad-based knowledge surrounding the scope of cardiac nursing practice. 

This course is organised by National Heart Centre Singapore. 

Course Outline: 

  • State the roles and responsibilities of registered nurse in cardiac care and patient education
  • Discuss the challenges in cardiac care (CVM, CTS, CV & CR)
  • Apply problem-solving models to resolve clinical issues
  • Describe the obstacles of patient education
  • Synthesize the principles of pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy, health assessment data and medical management, to develop comprehensive nursing care plans for cardiac patients
  • Apply the principles of teaching to develop learning plan for individulaized patient family education
  • Pursue professional, inter-professional, and inter-personal developmednts through reflections on acquired knowledge, skills and attitude

Target Audience: 

Registered Nurses with more than 2 years of clinical experience.
