Come 2013, SingHealth Academy will relocate to The Academia, SingHealth’s new 13-storey twin-tower building. The building will house the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Pathology services, as well as SingHealth’s research and education facilities. The integration of these facilities in one venue fosters greater synergy for education and research in SingHealth, and is strategic for the advancement of Academic Medicine in SingHealth.
The Academia comprises two twin towers “Diagnostics” and “Discovery”. The SGH Department of Pathology occupies the “Diagnostics” tower, while research and educational facilities will be found at “Discovery”. Features of the training infrastructure at this tower: |
- Clinical wet and dry skills laboratories
- Simulation laboratories including manikin-based simulation, operating theatre simulation, ward simulation, motion simulation and skills simulation facilities
- Conferencing capacity up to 900, including a 490-seater auditorium
- Seminar, tutorial and debriefing rooms
The expanded training facilities at The Academia are expected to provide 26,000 training places for staff and up to 9,500 training places for external organisations.
